Cherie Henderson, M.S., is a graduate teaching assistant and fieldwork supervisor in the Narrative Medicine Master’s Program, from which she holds a degree. She was also a Post-Graduate Fellow and facilitated workshops for the Macy Scholars program at Columbia’s medical campus. Research interests include the intersection of death and humor, as well as conflicts between a person’s illness experience and culturally dominant narratives. Previously, she initiated and led writing workshops for patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Earlier, she was a suburban bureau chief and reporter at The Miami Herald and a staff editor for the national desk of The Associated Press. She holds a journalism degree from The University of Texas at Austin.
