The Association of Bioethics Program Directors (ABPD)

Columbia Division of Ethics Chief Sandra Soo-Jin Lee is President of the Association of Bioethics Program Directors (ABPD). The ABPD represents the leadership of approximately 100 academic bioethics programs across North America. The Association’s work helps to foster the development and success of bioethics programs housed in academic institutions, by creating information of use to program directors, acting as a clearinghouse for information, and hosting conversations among peers about issues that are important for those in leadership positions. NASEM Health - Population Descriptors

Columbia Division of Ethics Chief Sandra Soo-Jin Lee has served on the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine’s Committee on Use of Race, Ethnicity, and Ancestry as Population Descriptors in Genomics Research.  The committee was convened to conduct a study to review and assess existing methodologies, benefits, and challenges in the use of race and ethnicity and other population descriptors in genomics research.

Columbia Division of Ethics Chief Sandra Soo-Jin Lee serves on the The Bioethics Advisory Board of the Kaiser Permanente National Research Biobank. The Bioethics Advisory Board provides leadership regarding bioethical issues and best practices in issues of ethics and governance.

NIH Human Pangenome Research Consortium

Columbia Division of Ethics Chief Sandra Soo-Jin Lee has served on the Advisory Board for the NIH Human Pangenome Research Consortium (HPRC). The HPRC is a project funded by the National Human Genome Research Institute to sequence and assemble genomes from individuals from diverse populations in order to better represent genomic landscape of diverse human populations.
